ETRI Gender Equality Plan Building Gender Equality into ETRI’s Research and Innovation Culture

The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) continues to strengthen its institutional framework to ensure that gender equality and inclusion are effectively embedded across research activities and organizational operations. At ETRI, gender equality is understood not merely as a matter of workforce composition, but as the creation of an environment that enables fair and equal participation throughout research activities and organizational roles.

As Korea’s leading ICT research institute, ETRI applies the principles of gender equality through its internal operational policies and promotes practices grounded in fairness and accountability across key institutional areas, including recruitment, career development, and leadership. In addition, ETRI fosters a working environment in which research engagement is balanced with a high quality of working life through work–life balance measures such as flexible working arrangements and parental leave.

ETRI regularly reviews the implementation of its Gender Equality Plan (GEP) to ensure policy effectiveness and to establish an inclusive organizational culture aligned with its role and responsibilities as a public research institution.
